In brief, professor Jean-Christophe Leroux has made groundbreaking advancements in drug delivery systems and excipients, focusing on improving drug safety and effectiveness while minimizing side effects.

One of his notable achievements is developing liposomal formulations, currently in clinical trials for treating hepatic encephalopathy. The innovative approach addressed the challenge of phospholipid stability during sterilization, which ended up in establishing a novel preparation method.

His recent research explores delivering traditionally injectable APIs, like peptides, via transbuccal systems. This approach aims to enhance peptide absorption using carefully selected excipients that maintain drug activity while protecting the buccal mucosa. Early findings show great promise.
