Obaris accquired by Johnson & Johnson
OBaris (CTO Nevena Paunovic and CEO David Klein Cerrejon) is now part of Johnson & Johnson! OBaris was a preclinical-stage spin-off from ETH Zürich Zurich and the Universitätsspital Zürich (USZ), which developed the OctoPatch®, a unique delivery technology that could enable oral delivery of a wide range of therapeutics.
Swiss Pharma Science Day (SPhSD)
Some members of the Leroux Group visited the Swiss Pharma Science Day (SPhSD) in Bern today.
A big thank you for an insightful conference and the many stimulating discussions. It was a great opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and gain inspiration for our ongoing research.
Galenus Technology Award
Marilena Bohley Steiger was awared for her work on "Enzyme-mediated permeation enhancement for non-invasive peptide delivery: From oral proof-of-concept to pulmonary translation" from the Galenus Foundation.
The award ceremony takes place on the 6th of November in Vienna.

Hanna at the MaP Symposium
Hanna Krupke attended the MaP Symposium 2025 and gave an insightful talk about her research on transbuccal peptide delivery using a biodegradable suction patch.

IPW Summer BBQ
Today the Institute of pharmaceutical science at ETH hosted the summer BBQ and the Leroux Group could enjoy nice food and drinks together.

Prof. Jean-Christophe Leroux wins the CSPS Lifetime Achievement Award!
Prof. Jean-Christophe Leroux received the CSPS (Canadian Scociety for Pharmaceutical Sciences) Lifetime Achievement Award.
Huge congratulations for this achievement!
Congratulations Dr. Scherer & Dr. Klipp!
David Scherer and Alexander Klipp successfully defended their PhD theses!
David focused on the production and characterization of endogenous receptor ligands for gene delivery and Alex on the engineering and discovery of phospholipases for endosomal escape.

The Leroux group at TOL
Since 2012 the ETH invites students and teachers to the Day of open Laboratories and this year the Leroux group was representative for the Institute of Pharmaceutical Science.
Together, we made colorful suppositories and also created glowing tablets using 3D printing technology. It was a fun and inspiring experience for everyone involved!
Steffen Honrath and Yulia Yuts finished their PhDs!
Huge congratulations to our new PhDs!
Steffen Honrath defended his thesis with the title “Improvement and characterization of a DNA transfection agent based on mitochondrial transcription factor A” and Yulia Yuts with “Biodegradable oral devices and permeation enhancers for oral delivery of macromolecules.

Drug Delivery Express at SOLA Run
The majority of the Leroux Group was part of the legendary SOLA Stafette, a run around Zürich with total 113km and 2600hm.
