How do we translate fundamental research into novel treatments? With the rise of chronic liver disease, hepatic encephalopathy remains as an unmet clinical need. Diana's work was focused on targeting ammonia-producing bacteria in the colon, by inhibiting their ureases which are responsible of generating ammonia from urea.
